I'm glad I have sons... and only sons. My friends who are mothers of daughters say that if I had given birth to two daughters instead, I'd be just as glad. I'm not so sure. When I was pregnant with each of my sons, I was convinced from the start that I carrying boys.

As a parent of a girl (and another girl on the way) this article offends the hell out of me! Yes, I would have liked to have one of each gender simply because my family has a long history of girls, but God blessed me with two girls and I'm happy with that. I am so sick of the gender stereotyping -- making it seem that girls are whiny, drama prone, emotionally unhinged, are dainty little angels, etc. Bullcrap. Each girl is different. My daughter is our beautiful tomgirl. She plays soccer, plays with boys, and enjoys getting dirty. She is not particularly interested in playing dress up or dolls. Yet she loves Tinkerbell and getting her hair done. Thanks to society thinking like the way that idiot article writer thinks, girls who do not happen to be traditionally girly find themselves wondering what the heck is wrong with them, when NOTHING is wrong with them.

I thought her article was kind of lame. I have one child - a son and am so grateful for him. I would have been just as grateful for a little girl.

To me, it would be fantastic to have one of each! The very best of both worlds.

I have to admit, I live in a different world from my friends who have girls. No danceline, ballet, cheerleading, clothes . . . . I've spent my last 10 years on one ballfield or another. But I wouldn't change a thing; it's all I know and love.

How silly. I guess she is trying to overcompensate for something here.

I have one of each. I would have been happy with anything. But fyi, my daughter was more difficult and dramatic. But also much more interesting.

I don't find what she wrote to be sexist or offensive at all. I'm in the same position with three sons. There was a time when I was hoping my third would be a girl. I was so sick of navy, gray and brown clothes, all I wanted was to shop for some pink or yellow. But, I am far more suited to parent boys. I love baseball and football and rugby, and find softball, soccer and ballet tedious. I champion independence in my sons, and don't need anybody to shop with or do my nails with.

Yes, I know some awesome girls, in fact I sometimes grab the 10yr old daughter of a good friend to see a movie with or take her on a trip to Claire's. But, honestly, once or twice a year is enough, and there's nothing wrong with admitting I'm more suited to sons than daughters.

You'll have a hard time believing this, but if you had had girls, you'd feel differently. How sexist to think that girls only do softball, soccer and ballet (and that boys only do baseball, football and rugby).

But I'm not saying only girls do anything. I'm saying I'm better suited to boys, as did the author of the article. What's wrong with that?

I realize that if I did have a daughter, I would love her and her interests. But, I'm not sorry for the way things worked out.
