It has nothing to do with being off work or sick for us. It's religious. In our religion, the time before Christmas is not a time of celebration. Well, it's not supposed to be anyway. Christmas celebrations start today and are really supposed to carry on until Epiphany.

I don't like all the pressure to buy things and to make it a "I have more than you do" holiday like it is where I live. But I do love spending time with my husband and kids. My youngest still believes in Santa, while being able to appreciate that Christmas is first about Jesus then presents. Just seeing Christmas through the kids eyes makes it seem very magical. Plus it snowed last night on Christmas Eve, the first time in years. Yeah!!

I'm ready for it to end. Do you think it's too early for me to take down the Christmas tree?

No, I'll be sad when it's over. I love spending time with family and friends. Sure, some of them get on my nerves, but hey, I get on people's nerves too.

Merry Christmas!!!!

Day 8 of visiting family, sleeping in cramped quarters and sharing a bathroom with a bunch of people... it has been nice, but, yes, I'm glad it is almost over. Christmas seems to put me in a bad mood these days. The kids seem ungrateful. No matter how we try not to spoil them with gifts, the grandparents over do it. the 2-day drive home starts tomorrow morning!

Go watch "It's a Wonderful Life"....and Merry Christmas, y'all.

Words from one of my favorite Christmas carols:

"Then rang the bells more loud and deep
God is not dead, nor doth He sleep.
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With Peace on Earth, Goodwill to men."
