Try putting this in the "Chicago" threads here on CD.

Or Google something like "model airplane clubs Chicago". (Thought I don't think they're called model airplanes anymore.) There's a club near me.

Try 4H. We had an aerospace and rocketry group in my club and we used to make everything from RC planes to multiple stage model rockets.
