Tony.

Did Hunt ever talk about his dad? I adored Soupy. Just loved him to bits.

For those of you confused about the "little green pieces of paper", back on New Year's Day in 1965, Soupy (unhappy about having to do his show on the holiday) told the kids to go in Mom's purse and Dad's pants and get those "little green pieces of paper" (money) and mail them to him, and Soupy would send a post card from Puerto Rico. Some of the kids took their parents' money, and Soupy got fired, but was reinstated, because he was so popular.

Was it Hunt who had the band?

By the way, I showed my daughter a clip of Soupy's show on You Tube. She couldn't believe it was a kids show - he did a cowboy skit in a bar room where he was chugging whiskey from the bottle, and then he did a musical number with Pookie about "smoking cigarettes and spitting chew". No wonder grown ups loved the show as much as we did! My favorite part was him getting socked in the face with the pie. Once, one of my friends and I filled a pie plate with his dad's shaving cream so we could play "Soupy Sales" - his mom was NOT amused.

I did NOT know that. Thank you, DewDropInn, for stuffing a little more trivia into my brain!
