My toddler loves pull toys, and I've been sticking to wooden ones because they have such a classic feel to them (not to mention are extremely durable).

Legos!! Both of my kids, a boy (age 10) and girl play with them and love them. For the girls, my daughter (age 7) is really into My Little Pony and the Equestria girls which are like My Little Pony's version of a Barbie. I also echo the sports equipment idea as well. Also, strange but true, my kids still LOVE stuffed animals. My daughter will play with her stuffed wolf like a baby doll. LOL!

Feel free to be as specific as possible to help our shoppers! Thanks a lot! I thought I'd post this now since we try to shop while there are sales going on to get more bang for our buck.
These are good for either gender:
Legos (big ones for small kid, regular ones for older ones)
Scooter
Balance bike
Books
Toy kitchen
Balls/hoop
ipad
Board games. Ages 4+. You can get Candyland for younger ones, either gender. Hungry Hippos is good. Operation for the older kids.
These provide hours of fun.
I'm also with the poster that suggested sports equipment. Batting helmets, bats, mitts, shin guards, etc.
These gifts can just keep on giving.
Rainbow looms are really popular with girls around 6-10 in my area. They were bigger over the summer but I still see kids using them.
Anything associated with American Girl is popular with that age group too. The dolls are too expensive, of course, but many of the craft and activity books are in the $15-20 range.
