I'm overcome with the desire to ask, "Why? What did they do now?"
LOL - Isn't that the truth....I know lots of people say that some parents are never willing to believe their little darlings could do anything wrong. Most of my friends (and me) always were more like "what did they they do?"
To answer the OP....had one (now 20), have one now (17).

It was just me being curious, I see alot of replies to posts from people in regards to teenagers and was just curious if they have teenagers. While I fully comprehend one does not have to have a teenager in order to reply to these posts, I thought it would be interesting to see who among us has actually "been there done that." And that does not include being a teenager yourself, there is a huge difference between having once been a teenager and being a parent of a teenager.
I HAD alot of preconceived ideas about how I would parent my teens when I didn't have teens and sometimes those ideas turned out to be not so great. Just trying to get an idea of where everyone is coming from when replies get posted.
As for myself I had 2 (now 25 and 23) and have 2 now 17 and 14

I think that applies to parenting in general. It's one thing to "know" exactly how you will parent before it actually happens. It's often quite another thing when you are actually faced with a situation yourself. There are usually a lot more things to factor in than you realize before you get there.
I live on a very quiet road, but a cop car drove past a little bit ago. My sons are hundreds of miles away (and they were never in trouble with the law growing up, thank goodness) but my first thought was to think, "Where are they? Who are they with?"
The teens (and pre-teens!) have been really great years here!
Same for me - I really enjoy my son and what our relationship has become as he's gotten older.
I can only speak for myself obviously, but the teen years haven't been as horrible as I thought it would be.
