Yeah, our WAR stories can come in handy. I agree with you that full disclosure over time will bring us closer to our kids. Do you think that there will EVER come a time when you can tell them everything? Now, I know that everything for some may be a lot more hazardous than everything for another. I wasn't the worst, but I was definitely, um, eh busy.. Plus the times have changed. About ten years ago I looked around and asked myself, 'Where the hell did all these perfect people come from?'

My oldest two are 22 and 18. I haven't told them everything but I have told them a lot. I didn't use drugs or smoke, I did drink and I did have sex before I was married. I have been honest about all those things. I haven't told them things that I feel would hurt them. I married their dad when I was 21 and did some things during our marriage that I am not proud of (so did he). I dont think they would benefit in any way from knowing about things like that. I have chosen to keep those types of things private.

And this is what it really comes down to, doesn't it? There are times I think when it's not so obvious what will and will not benefit them. For instance, if one of your adult children has been unfaithful to a bf/gf and they are harboring much guilt over it, possibly knowing that their mom, someone who's life choices they respect also had a moment or two of weakness, it WOULD benefit them..

I started slapping the ham as early as 9 LMAO. If I catch my future kids at that age doing that, I sure will be pissed. Does that make me a hypocrite

Do you ever hear any non-Hollywood father say this:

"I had the privilege of catching my son masturbate today. He's 9 and I'm proud of him. He has an amazing future ahead"
