I would especially recommend against it if my child were already dealing with untreated depression and ill health (say...potential diabetes, debilitating back pain and migraines, possible anxiety disorder....that sort of thing for example).

I do have to say, over Fashion Week I saw the "most hated" girl from this season of Project Runway. At first I couldn't put my finger on where I knew her from but then I realized who she was. The show painted her as the biggest "See You Next Tuesday" on the planet and I even remember having mean facebook statuses about her.

She walked in, alone, unescorted and was waiting near a display for someone. She was just so....normal. She was checking her phone like a normal person. Waiting for her friend (who I thought wasn't going to show up) looking around ect ect...just being so....normal. At that moment I instantly felt bad for having all those judgments about her based on a stupid TV show that may or may not have been edited to make her look bad. I never got to talk to her and her friend did show up, but she just seemed really sweet, and I did feel bad for her.

Guess what, 99.9% of the castmembers on the "Real World" don't care what anyone thinks, let alone their parents.

That is why they are on the show.
That is why they are cast.
They don't care.

They are attention mongers desperate for whatever it is that they are craving.

They don't care about their parents & more than likely, you will need to have the token "my parents beat me/my parents ignored me/my parents had sex in front of me/my parents never fed me/....keep filling in the blanks" sob story to even get a second glance.

Sorry, txt, you care too much about what others think.

In trying to figure out where in Boulder this was going to be in order to avoid being any where near, I came upon this article:

Are you up for several videotaped weeks of drunken sex and/or fighting? This show's for you. | Reverb

txt - are you really going to waste a day doing this? Do you realize how many people will be there with photo in hand? Probably every CU student. Note to self, avoid Pearl Street Mall next weekend......

What is the point of being on the show? They don't win anything right? I've only seen it a couple of times, and that was back in middle school.. I'd rather watch something where people use their talent like on American Idol or America's Got Talent.

As a 20 year old, if a friend of mine said they were auditioning for The Real World I'd just want to know what they think they would get out of it. Unless the pay is huge, I don't see the point in possibly ruining your reputation.. and simply being subjected to the drama that goes on.

I've already applied and been sent a vip pass to by pass the line because my email peaked their interest.

txt...most likely many many people were given "VIP" passes to "bypass" the line. All it means is a different line.

Everyone's a VIP

Group sex, drunken fights, showers w/ random strangers...nothing says trying to set my life straight by going on the highly regarded Real World.

Though, back in the day (about 15yrs ago), this show & Road Rules were actually some of first reality shows. The very first Road Rules they had no money. None. And they had to **gasp gasp** work for it. The first few Real Worlds had some potent cast members.

Now, it's a joke. MTV makes a buck after people freely & willingly making fools of themselves.

For the OP, it's not the point. It's the attention the OP will get that motivates it all. At the end of the day, the OP is no different than the other gizillion who get "VIP" tickets. And that is sorta sad.

I guess wanting to take the "oh whoa is my life" route is the route some need to/want to take.

I took it for several years. It stunk & no one feels sorry for you after awhile. But you look like a fool by the end of it all....
