It's not just breastfeeding parents who ask that kind of question though - parents ask that about all sorts of baby-care topics, from sleeping to pooping to milestones, etc.
What I was referring to was night-time parenting in which the breast is almost always the solution.

You are still completely missing my point. How could I be defensive when I was an on-demand breastfeeder. Honestly how you parent your children does not factor into this discussion that we have been having at all. This is about opions, and how you promote your opinions to others. You specifically as well as lactivists.

I have explained already that I am interested in dispelling myths and removing barriers to breastfeeding. I think that good information is essential for people to make informed choices. I think that breastfeeding is a public health issue. Maybe I don't really know what you're asking if I haven't answered it yet.
As an advocate you are looking at breastfeeding and breast milk like it's its own entity, and at any cost you choose to promote breastfeeding for the sake of breastfeeding. For me, breastfeeding is an integral part of choosing the best path for a healthy (emotionally and physically) mother, and a healthy (emotionally and physically) baby. Most of the time it is breastfeeding, but sometimes it's not.

Bonding, love, confidence, nurturing and support are way more important to me than the extremes measures.

I didn't mean that you were being defensive, I meant that maybe I was being defensive and that you may have read that as adversarial. I was trying not to be defensive and take it personally though.
