More working out in the garden today for me. It's absolutely lovely here today. Low 80's. Sunny. Birds are singing. Waiting for the first signs of nest building. I hung an old wreath out for them to pillage for parts. Next couple of days I'll start spreading bits of string and yarn for them. I do that every year. I'm so thankful to be able to be outside today.

Windy here again today...temp in the 50s....and of course, dry as a bone. Glad you were able to be outside on such a lovely day...

Dew - we donate to the birds nests by brushing Macie outside - lots of nice fluffy dog hair floating about our yard.

Top Chef finale on tonight - rooting for Richard at this point.

Dew - I was at Costco yesterday (shocking, I know ....it's really dangerous to have one coveniently located) and saw they had Upstairs Downstairs on DVD....Each season was $30 though. Too rich for my blood. I'll wait until I can find it at the library.

I'm sure the birds appreciate it.

I've never seen Top Chef. I can't watch programs about food without wanting to eat. I can't even watch a "regular" movie or TV where there is a scene with people eating. But glad you are enjoying it.

Nothing wrong with the library. Our's has a surprisingly good DVD section. I was watching "Doc Martin" last week and there was an actor who looked very familiar. But he'd aged. Grey hair. Had a few more pounds. Half the episode I'm driving myself nuts. Who is this guy? Finally I realised he'd been on Upstairs Downstairs. "Thomas". Thirty plus years later and he still looked good!

Our library has a pretty big DVD selection also - I was in there just last week and was shocked at the selection....but I need to just go online and reserve because I do not have the patience to look through them all. There were tons of people browsing - hardly anyone was in the book stacks though...kind of sad...

One of my friends came over last night for awhile - the one who was a Marine and whose home we are meeting at Sunday to do the VA Hospital project....she is writing a book about four men who fought at Iwo Jima .... telling their stories....and wanted me to read some parts that had come back from the editor. That was fun. She is really trying to talk me into getting a Nook so we can share books. She says I'll get addicted though...

Keep us posted on the VA hospital project. My sister's Bible study group has adopted a group of families from Camp Pendleton. Wives and children of men who are deployed. Most of them very young women who are away from home. Taking them shopping. Baby sitting. My sister is hoping to hold a few babies, Bless her.

The book sounds interesting. Those men and women are dying off so it's important to get their stories recorded now. I've worked on a few oral history projects over the years. What people are holding inside can be pretty incredible.

I'll keep you posted...I'm not really sure what we're doing. I'll just show up and do what I'm told. This friend is truly an inspiration. She jokes that she's the one sitting in a corner at wedding receptions, talking to all the old grandfathers and listening to their war experiences. She loves it and loves them. Her big thing is getting their stories out there.

.
I was station on Camp Pendleton and then lives in Oceanside until 2004. There was a program where local people would take in Marines on holiday like Thanksgiving and Christmas. You got to go to their home and have the holiday there. I spent my first Christmas away from home with a host family. Years later I did the same thing at my home for some Marines . It was a really cool program and really helped. A lot of us had never been away from home for the holidays.

And it's so cool to see friends who are fans of BBC shows. I have a lot of friends who are writers ,actors , production member etc for BBC shows
