I haven't seen any Cirque - I'm gonna have to go one of these days. You should go, I don't think there's really much chance it's going to be a dud.
We haven't taken the kids yet as the ticket prices have been prohibitive, but this deal through Goldstar was great, so tickets have been bought . I really want to see their Beatles show Love too.
Zimbo, if Cirque EVER brings the Beatles show to Atlanta, give me a heads up, please? We saw the one at Disney Downtown, and DH has seen the Vegas show, but I want to see the Beatles version.
Quandary here, as I am not sure I'm giving DS good advice. He had trouble finding a summer job when he came home from school, and finally got a part-time position at the local liquor store (not that I was thrilled). He's been getting about 20 hours a week. He told the owner he could work up until 8/14, when he returned to college. Now he has a great opportunity to work a golf tournament that final week. It's for the same $10.00/hour, but about a 60 hour week. He hasn't been able to put much $$ aside this summer, as his gas costs have eaten up a lot of his paycheck. I told him to take the PGA job, but he asked me if it was fair to his boss. I'm having second thoughts about telling him to quit early.

I think as long as he gives two weeks he should still be ok - but that means giving notice now. Things do change and opportunities come up - and most people understand that. As long as he is not leaving the store owner in the lurch with no notice...or if something is going on that the store owner was really counting on him being there for...(owner going on planned vacation or whatever)...
So I just turned in 4 applications at the mall today.
I still have to do my online app for Dick's.
But I turned in an app at Aeropostale, and the lady was like well we aren't hiring till the end of August and then was reading over my app while we were talking and said something to extent of you have a very good work experience history in retail and was like I will put this on the store managers desk and have him take a look at it and we'll give you a call back this weekend and if we don't give you a call back by then don't be afraid to call.
I have high hopes for this and I know I can rock this job because I channel my OCD and can rock neatly folding table after table of clothes.
There is nothing more appealing that a neatly folding stack of shirts from smallest to largest and it be perfect!
Plus I rock those retail jobs.
As for academy, I am following the advice of TG and TC(the cop/my friend) and I am going to get a little more life experience before I go and save up money so I have something to live off of and will be able to attend academy full time and not part time.

Two weeks notice is being fair to his boss.
He has a good reason, it's an extra $400 for just the last week, not a sudden trip away with friends.
It might even help him get a summer job at the liquor store next year because he will have proven that he won't just disappear without notice.
He's a great kid for thinking of his boss like that. He could qualify his notice by saying he would stay if needed. I doubt the boss would make him miss this opportunity.

I don't suppose either of these all-knowing buddies mentioned going to college part-time while you are getting "life experience" and pursuing your career as a retail shirt-folder?
Whew - it's finally Friday! No one is home but me! DS is "out and about", DH is out with a group of guys (husbands of my group of buds) - they've been trying to plan this for quite some time so they went out for dinner.
Just made some mac'n'cheese...(not from a box)...and a nice cold glass of Savignon Blanc (it's a little sweet for me, don't think I'll buy it again but wouldn't go so far as to waste it either).....
Dew - getting pretty frustrated.....
jk - too funny - love Mr. Bill on the spatula! DS actually did know who Mr. Bill was...he said you can get all the old SNLs on Netflix....
MM, you will not be surprised to learn I share your frustration. I made myself nuts watching all the coverage last night.
I did see a piece on the 3 Denver QB's this afternoon. Must be nice to know you actually HAVE a QB, lol. A nice cold glass of SB sounds sooooo good. Glad you are getting a chance to take it easy!

What channel was that Denver piece on Dew? Might look for it....
Yes, the SB is nice and cold ...which reminds me...I came home to an empty house but on the dining room table is a good sized blue box with a white ribbon...we all know that one.... it is opened and there is tissue paper strewn about. 2 good sized wine glasses! No idea where this came from or who is delivering stemware from Tiffany's to my home...whoever it is can continue sending it and mosey on over to the jewelry section as long as they're there or ordering....(Although I will say....fragile stemware makes me nervous)
Dew - DD just bought airline tix to your neck of the woods. Her cousin and family live down there...She is really looking forward to taking a little vacation. She works 20 hrs/week all during the school year while taking a full load and then FT during the summer while taking 1-2 summer classes. She deserves a little break. I'm pleased she is choosing to spend it with family. Her other cousin (2 sisters) is also flying in from the midwest - they all will have a nice time. DD is younger by a good amount but they've always been close.
