Speaking for myself, no problemo Fin. I realise I won the lottery on family.

It's either that or my winning personality.

It's an odd relationship. Let's just say - my FIL walked me down the aisle when we were married (father passed away when I was 14). We were close. Fast forward years later (about 7 or 8 years ago?) he was kicked out of the house by DH while they were visiting. They had to go stay in a hotel and we didn't speak for probably more than a year.

It's actually more of a struggle with my MIL. We have ZERO in common. She will go on and on and on with detailed stories about people we do not know. Most likely my eyes will glaze over 15 minutes into the visit. This is going to be a huge challenge for me - school will have already started too. So even DS will be gone all day!
yikes. I'm irritated because they booked their tickets without asking. We said ok to the round-about dates, but I was thinking more like a 3 or 4-day weekend. They assumed that DS5 would have the same kindie schedule that DS8 had, but he doesn't. you know what they say about assuming... I just wish they would run things by us first.

So a little follow-up on my daughter's learning assessments. After our discussion here yesterday I made a few phone calls and sent out emails to our new principal and guidance teacher telling them what we had been doing with DD over the summer, and my frustration with the whole situation, and the cost of private assessment, and asked for an appointment with them after school starts (08/15) to discuss the matter. I got a call this morning telling me they are going to review DD's file this coming Monday, and will come up with a plan.

So a big thank you for your words of encouragement and advice, it means a lot.

^ that's good to hear Zimbo.

txt- good luck with the interview.

I just had a phone interview. I'm very qualified and could do the job, but it requires travel, which would be an issue. It probably isn't the position for me.

That is great news Zimbo! I hope it works in your favor for you and your daughter. Over 3 grand is a lot to shell out. I hope your daughter gets the assessment and help she needs.

Zim - that's wonderful! It would be great if they had a plan in place as soon as school starts. Fingers crossed they come up with a plan that works for her.

I didn't know you were still looking. Even if it doesn't work - getting the interviews is a great thing - you KNOW you have the qualifications for something when the right one comes along.
