That's odd, I play it all the time with an 11 year old, who then plays it with all her friends and has had full on tourneys at sleep overs.

Be warned that one of the lifetime goals is also to woohoo with twenty different sims.
I agree that the original Sims is more appropriate (and less fun, but it can still provide hours of entertainment)!

If you have a computer that supports the original Sims games, there are multiple expansion packs you can also get to make the game more fun (and still not have the Woohoo option).

If you don't already have them, there are multiple My Sims games that are made for younger children.

You can mod sims to get the woohoo option out if it's really that big of a deal to you.

I have been playing sims since I was 14 (now I'm 24) and I don't think its a good game for a 9 year old. Sims throw parties and have sex. They call it "woohoo" and some sims, depending on what their aspirations in life are, always want a new partner to "woohoo".

LOL

What's frightening is that a 10 year old is posting on message boards, especially in this section.

Try to find Logical Journey of the Zoombinis.
Couple of different Zoombini games ... PC and Mac only. TOTALLY worth picking up for kids that age. My stepdaughters (now 23 and 19) still rave about that game. My daughter loves it (she's 11).

Not a sim game, per se, actually educational ... but so much fun ...
