^ ya, there is a difference between doc, nurse (maybe), and parents and "a room full of people."

Mom, Dad, older sister, Doctor and Nurse = too many people for a girl whose mother described her as 'very modest'.

Sounds like everyone could have used better judgement - doctor included.

No nurse there.

My daughters shower together, so nudity in front of her sister wasn't the issue. Big sis is great at moral support too.

All three kids have full exams that includes a genital check at each of their well visits.

My daughter recently had her 6 year well visit. Yes, he did check her privates. When she was laying down on her back he had her bend both legs and then moved her underwear to view. It was very quick. Just to make sure everything looked correct.

We have seen the same male doctor since she was born. However, she is getting more modest now that she is older and asked me if she could see a female doctor next time. I have no problem doing that for her because I do understand.

My other two are 3 years old and 10 month old boys. They get their privates checked at well visits too.

How old are your children?
What's the matter....you can't look at your baby ,or young children when you bathe them and tell that they're normal and fine???You gotta have a doc do it for you???rediculous far as I'm concerned.

I don't see a problem with Dad being there. At 15, problem. At 5, no problem.

The doctor should have explained better, asked permission, and not insisted if the child or the parents were uncomfortable.

Exactly. I don't think anyone is implying that the doctor is a perv. I think it was pretty insensitive and unnecessary to examine a small child like that, without explanation, when it has never been done before.

The thought of the little girl crying and trying to hold her legs shut and the doctor forcing them apart and looking anyway is very, very disturbing to me. This wasn't life or death, and it seems totally uncalled for to traumatize a little girl like that. I don't see how Mom didn't speak up and say NO.
