For all those who have preschoolers or are entering preschool, what type of nap mat did you buy and why?
I have to buy one for Toddler X and Walmart seems to sell only one which looks like a green and blue rubber gym mat. I think it doesn't look comfortable for a two year old to nap on, even if I sent one with a blanket and small pillow.
They are getting fancy these days, we used to just send in a towel. How about a yoga mat?
Hahaha..funny you mention yoga mat cause I had no clue what a nap mat was until I wrote an email to the preschool director. No yoga mats. Too soft and thin! She told me Walmart sells them as well as Target. I found one on Pottery Barn but its $60 bucks and I feel if I am dropping that kind of money on it that nap mat better last until he is five years old.

Really? They make children lay on the floor? That's barbaric. When I worked at a "preschool" (day care center), they had little cots for everybody. Not only does it keep people off the floor, which is usually COLD and drafty, but it prevents bugs from crawling on them.
Those are very similar to the ones they sell in our local Walmart. Do you put a blanket and pillow on top of it or does the child just lay there without anything?
They provide mats similar to this at the daycare my son attends. We send in a crib sheet, blanket and pillow that get sent home to wash monthly or if he has an accident during nap. Some parents send in a sleeping bag instead.

We used sleeping bags.
