I tell you I wrote a long reply to it and then I realized I was talking to a brick wall.

Watching my neighbor walk by in her work uniform. Looks like she's going to make it in to work today on time in the snow and she doesn't even own a car.

I was not a teen when I started doing this stuff. I was younger.
But when I was a pre-teen and younger, I saw all girls who were like 14+ and they were already do this stuff too and had started years before. If you look back in my year books, the older grades were doing all this stuff even before my age group got old enough and started doing it.
The 90's is when it started. Nearly 20 years its been going on is all I am trying to say.

All I was trying to say is that it is getting earlier and earlier and more and more drastic. I wore make up. I shaved my legs. There were a select few who tanned in HS. That wasn't the topic. bikini waxing at age 11 was the topic. Not HS. Not makeup. Not shaving.

I highly doubt you were a teen in the 90's.
80's maybe? My mom was 24/25 in 89, so maybe around there.

I turned 17 in 1990, so, yes, I was. I am not the old fogey you picture me as.

There is a difference. Someone in society and the media deems it acceptable that we women at some point should have vaginas that look as fresh as a newborns. Look at America's Next Top Model.I have seen many an episode during the models first few weeks they all require to have some form of down there waxing. Most of the time it is a full wax. It is really not necessary and the image that is being portrayed to our youth in the media is that its better to be hairless. Look at Britney Spears and Lilo and who ever else thought at one point getting out of car without knickers on to show off a shinier than a golden globe bits was acceptable. Boys/Men see this and think hey thats normal!
No it is not 'normal' to be hairless and I speak as a person who has had many of a Brazilian and learned that nature intended me to be natural. It is better to be groomed. Both sexes included.

plus,
there is a big difference between some brow grooming, a little makeup, and a bikini wax at the age of 11. People SEE the child's face. Nobody better be seeing my 11 year old's bikini area!

On a random good news note: remember my young cousin who had to have chemo/radiation/double mastectomy? She is done with treatment and currently cancer-free! No better holiday gift than that!
