Should you be kicked off the bus?
Passengers: Crying baby gets mother kicked off TriMet bus | Local & Regional | KATU.com - Portland News, Sports, Traffic Weather and Breaking News - Portland, Oregon
Quote:
Chapman said the female driver stopped the bus, and told the mother if she couldn’t keep her baby quiet she’d have to get off.
“Some people around me were saying ‘it’s not bothering us, why is it bothering you?’” Chapman said. “And I spoke up to the driver that she’s a baby! Babies don’t work that way. You can’t just turn them off.”
Chapman said the bus driver went to the back of the bus where the mother was sitting and told her to get off.
“I said ‘you can’t kick a woman off with her baby at night in the middle of Hillsboro,’” said Chapman. “And she said ‘if you don’t like it, get off the bus.’”

While I understand that a crying baby can be annoying, I also know that you can't just make them stop. And a mother with a baby should be one of the last people kicked off a bus. I don't think that's right.

The mother and baby should not have been kicked off the bus. I hope that the driver faces some sort of repercussions for her actions.
I love that all of the other passengers on the bus got off with the mother to support her. That part of the story is awesome!

I think if the child is making a screaming nuisance of themselves, and other people are complaining then yes. However in this case no, i think the only one with an issue over it was the driver.

What kind of stupid retort is, "If you don't like it, get off the bus?"

That is crazy! To kick a Mom and baby off a bus. I would most certainly be at the city bus building filing a complaint. There was no reason especially since other passengers were not complaining. I think this bus driver should be fired.

I think this is one of the most ridiculous things I have read in years. The driver is an idiot. Yay for the passengers who stood up for the woman especially since the way it was written, it sounds like it wasn't the best area to be in at night.
ETA: I think it is even more ridiculous that this happened on a bus than most other places. It is public transportation. It isn't like she had a choice. She needed to get home with her baby.
Ugh. This story is so bad that I have a hard time putting into words how I feel about it.

Very unfair. Babies cry, everyone knows that.
I'm sure the mom did the best she could. Maybe the child was hungry or really wet or what not, in that case she couldn't do much, being on a bus...
