When I was 13 I watched grease 2 at a friends house and her mom made us mute the tv at the reproduction song. My mom found that funny since I'm well aware of reproduction.

My oldest son is 17. He can see whatever movie he likes. If I was there with him I would not cover his eyes. I wouldn't take my younger kids to see movies with explicit sex as they are a bit younger (12, 15) and I don't think it's appropriate for them.

For those that have not seen the movie, this is not a sex scene, but an extremely violent rape.

Regardless by the age of 13 most kids are aware of these things and know they go on. So i don't understand what covering the child's eyes is going to do.

This is in your vast experience with children?

Thanks, that turns me off from wanting to see the movie myself and I am 34yrs old.

I would not cover my sons eyes if he was 17, but I would feel extremely uncomfortable that is for sure

Right-but I would only be at an R rated movie with my child if he was 17 or over. At that age he can see whatever he chooses and I would not be covering his eyes.

It's my experience in the human race that knows that in todays day and age kids are far more informed than a lot of parents seem to think they are. With the interent the concept of rape, sex, drugs are not something you can brush under the carpet anymore and think someone that age isn't going to know. Is it possible a 17 year old who be that ignorant of life? Yes it is but that is the bare exception in this world and not the rule.

Dude you could have just moved your head away from her hands and told her to stop embarrassing you. You didn't just have to sit there and allow it if you didn't like it. I would have moved seats.

I would not be comfortable at all letting my 13 year old watch an explicit rape scene, IMO she would still be much too young. I read the books and there are a lot of disturbing things that happen to this young woman in this part of the book and I would not feel comfortable letting my 13 year old see it.
