I don't have kids yet but I wouldn't be very happy or approve of my child(ren) becoming an atheist or a Muslim. Being and coming from a United Methodist family, I wouldn't mind it if he/she changed to become Catholic, a Lutheran, Mormon or whatever.

But I would be lying if I said I never had doubts about God's existence. I have had periods where I didn't believe in Him but was in denial about it. I think a lot of people have dealt with this before. So, I would understand if this were to happen to my children.

What bothers me is that if my child met and fell in love with a Mormon and converted, OUR family would not be allowed to attend the wedding if it was in a Mormon Temple. That alone makes me feel that they don't think our family is "worthy".

If it makes you feel any better, I'm a Mormon who is totally sympathetic to this situation.
