I already wasn't even considering this for my son or my daughter, but the fact that the Gardasil researcher spoke out for more complete disclosures just cements my decision.

I have never read a report crediting Dr. Harper with claiming the vaccines are dangerous beyond side effects. Over prescribed? Yes. Of limited protection? Yes. Being pushed outside the appropriate window of efficacy? Yes. Dangerous? No.

I am absolutely against it being a mandatory vaccine to get into elementary school. That is just plain dumb. Personally, I think young women should make the decision of whether or not to get vaccinated after speaking with their gynecologist.

I think the most alarming thing the Dr. Harper brought up isn't the vax itself, or even its side effects, but the fact that its marketing makes it seem as if this is a "fix" and therefore many girls might decide to not get pap smears.

This happened in 2009, and much of what was quoted in the article you posted was comments taken out of context, and published in a newspaper that later retracted the story:

My son and daughter had the vaccine series as teens. No side effects beyond the usual sore arm.

I'm totally in favor of it. Both my son and daughter have had it.

My children are small so I have time to decide. I probably will get the shot for both my son and daughter but it's good to have plenty of time to evaluate,

People like this are why we have a resurgence of whooping cough deaths, and other crazyness

making life decisions based on some crazy claim on the internet

- dude, don't believe every article from crazy sites that hate vac's

Is CBS News an anti-vax site?

I didn't say anything about whooping cough. I was talking about an STD that clears up on its own most of the time and a relatively new vaccine with questionable side effects.
