A large percentage of the US population 70 years ago lived on farms. Population growth is an issue. Most know that 2 children is replacement level fertility to replace both mother and father. Having more than 2 children results in population growth.

Women died earlier 70 years ago. And big families were 6 to 10 children not 20. I am 66. I had one or two neighbors with large families (12 not 20). Most of the neighborhood families had 2, 3 or 4 children.

In 1955 alone, Congress discussed 200 bills aimed at curbing juvenile delinquency. Three years later, LIFE reported that urban teachers were being terrorized by their students. The drugs that were so freely available in 1900 had been outlawed, but many children grew up in families ravaged by alcohol and barbiturate abuse.

An infant was four times more likely to die in the 1950s than today. A parent then was three times more likely than a modern one to preside at the funeral of a child under the age Of 15, and 27 percent more likely to lose an older teen to death.

In 1900, life expectancy was 47 years, and only 4 percent of the population was 65 or older. Today, life expectancy is 76 years, and by 2025, about 20 percent of Americans will be 65 or older. For the first time, a generation of adults must plan for the needs of both their parents and their children.
Mothers were younger and people married younger back in the 50s as well.

In 1976, census data show, 59 percent of women ages 40 to 44 had three or more children, 20 percent had five or more and 6 percent had seven or more.
Note, while 59% had three or more, only 6% had 7 or more. Today, though more families are growing because of blended families and adoption rather than births. That is not a bad thing, imo.

Someone should tell her she isn't a dog so she needs to stop pretty much trying to have a litter of puppies.

I keep thinking about what to reply to this post and I can't quite find the right words. I probably shouldn't. We all have opinions, right?

I agree with this post.

It is not normal behaviour to continue procreating like this. Apart from the fact they get TV endorsements and money for being abnormal of course

Michelle, close your legs and pay attention to your other 19 kids!

Well obviously to her she doesn't mind it. My mother had 5,my older brother has 5 me and my wife are on our 3rd now and will have at least 1 more after this...everyone has opinions and I am of the opinion the more the better..they aren't harming anyone they don't take welfare so why worry about other people's lives when it comes to them having children?
