No cell phones at a sleepover?
Is it common practice for parents of their children's sleepover party to prohibit the other children from bringing cell phones to the sleepover. My daughter was told this by the hosting parent, and I thought this was a little strange. I'm new to this. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

This never came up with my kids and sleepovers but I don't understand why cell phones would be banned. That sounds strange to me.

There would be no sleepover for us then. That would be a huge red flag to me. I could see where the parents would be afraid of the kids playing with a cell phone all night, but hey, it's a sleepover - they are not going to sleep anyway.

I'm going to think that the parent doesn't want pictures taken with cell phones from the sleep over and then sent around. I think she is trying to be a good parent. However, if there is a question, I would call the parent hosting the party and ask why. Based on that conversation, I would then make my descision as to whether my child would be available for the party.

Yep, call parent and ask why.

That's what I thought of when I read the question. Kids don't understand the ramifications of photos posted - and then it's too late
Agree, call and ask! (and maybe let us know the answer...)

I would not let my kids go. I like that they have cell phones to call me whenever.

Yes the photo issue came to my mind. But call to ask.

What would you have done if this was pre-cell phone era?
