When DD got braces about 7-8 months ago her teeth were so horrible. She was only 9 and we planned on 2 phase plan with retainers. Within 2 weeks we could see the difference in her 4 front teeth and now her teeth-top and bottom- look pretty incredible. Hooray...she got her braces off today and got her retainers.
She still has some baby teeth to come out and doc said don't expect straight teeth to remain that way once her permanent teeth come in but until then she can have a beautiful smile and eat apples, popcorn and all the fun foods she has missed. In fact they gave her a bag with "I got my braces off today" and it had apple, licorice, bubble gum, apple, etc. She has been such a good sport about it all and I hope she can enjoy a long period of time before she has to go through it all over again. Maybe we will be lucky and not have to go through phase 2 at all.
Thats wonderful news, congrats! I have a grand daughter whos facing this, and she thinks it'll be fun. Her parents have been quoted a price of $6,000. Hope your daughter is enjoying all those foods she couldnt have before.
I've conveniently forgotten. We got it paid off before the braces came off cause I hate debt over my head and probably that is how the schedule was worked.
We paid $4000 for one kid, $4600 for the kid with bite problems.
I am surprised that orthodontists put them on kids that young now, even before they have lost all their baby teeth, knowing they will likely have to do braces again in middle school or high school once the teeth move around more.

I was surprised too but this kid had horrible teeth and it was beginning to affect her self esteem. I think if we waited till she was a young teen it only would have gotten worse. I was afraid they were going to have to pull some teeth. It really is unbelievable they got all those crowded teeth to stand straight and tall. I'm telling you some of her teeth were so far back behind some other teeth it looked like she had 2 rows of teeth like a shark!
Congrats to her! I am surprised they put braces on a 9yr old though since her permanent teeth haven't fully developed. Aren't you worried about having to pay for them to get put back on in a couple years?

Yikes!!! Braces are expensive!!! Time will tell whether we will need to get them. I think my brother had his for 3 yrs back in the day, so 8 months sounds wonderful.
