Just a thought...you might want to check what sites he was paying for. Porn is so readily available online, the only possible reason I can think to pay for it is if you're into something more...exotic....than average. So I would call the credit card company and find out as much as you can and have a look.

Otherwise, I agree with everyone else. He can't sit in his room on a bed and stare at the wall for the entire summer. Have him pay off his debt and take away his computer access for a time.

Grounding him for a whole summer is too much IMHO. And I doubt he is addicted to porn- he is just a normal 13 year old.

What you should do is ground him for a week or two, and then make him get a summer job mowing lawns or anything he can find in which he will use the money to pay the 90$ back plus interest at the rate on your card

Aw man you said what I was going to. No need for money when it comes to internet porn. Kid was just naive. Now he'll be more careful to hide it, but gauranteed he'll seek it out again despite the punishment. I'd have a very adult talk with him. If he's viewing porn, he's ready. Congrats, your kid is developing normally. Except for the stealing part. That's the real problem here.

I'd suggest you get him into counseling before you have bigger problems on your hands. You have a 13 year old who uses YOUR credit card without permission to get onto porn sites. You have bigger problems than you think.

I'd suggest you install a program like SafeEyes on your computer to limit his internet usage.

As to grounding him for the summer, that's your call but I think it's overkill to ground him to his room. From the computer, yes. Perhaps to the house but 3 months to his room is a long time to be in isolation.

Okay i have a feeling this is not a serious post, and this is the last time we will hear from this post. However if this is serious i think you are blowing this way out of proportion. You are gonna create more issues keeping him locked in his room all summer. Have him pay you back, and ground him for a week, and that i think is enough.

Counseling for looking at porn sites? He is a 13 year old boy with hormones kicking in, i would be worried more if he wasn't looking at porn :-P.

I think the issue is that he stole a credit card from his father for the purpose of looking at porn. It's one thing for a 13 year old to just get curious and look at porn on the internet, but the fact that he stole for that purpose is disturbing. When people resort to stealing, it can sometimes signal problems, like addiction. My guess would be he's already seen all the "free" internet porn there is, and decided to steal the credit card so that he can see more. I don't think counseling is a bad idea, or at least sitting down with the kid and trying to figure out why, and if he really has a problem. But I do think grounding for the entire summer is a bad idea, especially restricted to his room. Until the parents get to the root of the problem, it is not going to go away no matter how long they lock him in his room.

Think back to when you were 13.

If you had porn like they do today and it was easily available I think you'd be "addicted" too

I believe that Porn on the net is one of the worst things ever for the kids of the world. It exposes them to this stuff way too early. However he's a normal 13 year old, I know that if I had this when I was 13, you'd probably have to turn off the internet before I'd stop watching it!

I would have never stolen from my parents to watch it. If it's serious enough to steal for it, it's a problem.
