While I agree with the message on the shirt I have to say I have a problem with any sign or apparel with a religious or political message on it. What is to keep the crazies from coming out with God hates F#gs shirts like the signs they carry at funerals of slain soldiers? And what about all the political shirt which have started to spring up. I think they would be more of a distraction than some crazy hair cut which can get a kid suspended. What do you think?

U.S. News - Teen wins right to wear 'Jesus Is Not a Homophobe' T-shirt to school

I think someones should immediately wear a shirt to this school that says, "Jesus Is a Homophobe" or "God Hates Gay People". Don't use the "slur" because that would be grounds for an issue. If the school wants to allow free speech, as I think they should regardless of how it is presented, then their willingness to do so should be tested with slightly more controversial speech then what this case centered on.

If it is OK for this student to declare their belief that Jesus is not homophobic it is totally within anothers right to declare their belief that Jesus is homophobic. The school either needs to get smart and structure a dress code or uniform that does not allow this type of expression or it will open itself to an assault of seemingly offensive speech that is perfectly protected.

Why would anyone want to take Jesus\God out of school period.... It appears customary to have Jesus within our schools. I can tell you being military I have trazel to several countries and various locations and no one has altered there customs to fully accommodate myself nor my team. I feel the shirt is okay

Because jesus has no place in schools beyond basic historical data.

I have no problem with the shirt, but I don't think he should be allowed to wear it in school, not because of what it says, but because I am in favor of strict dress codes in school, no "t-shirts" anywhere but Gym class and then plain white or the school's colors.

This is a secular nation not a religious one. Your private beliefs are private beliefs, and thus can stay that way.
