Racko
Yahtzee
Phase 10
Uno

Not all are card games per se but all are good family/strategy games.

DH certainly has played BS with me before but I don't think it was a card game.

Think about what kind of attention span/patience level do they have and how are they with understanding strategy....

Fairly basic - War, slapjack, spoons, go fish, old maid, pig, crazy eights (Uno)

A little more strategy - hearts, spades, rummy(Phase 10), gin, oh hell, canasta, I doubt it (aka bs)

Poker -21, Texas hold 'em

Other fun games that are our family favorites....dominoes, yahtzee, apples to apples, pit, life, clue and sorry

The full name is Spit in the Ocean and it's a type of draw poker.

This uses different cards but it is a card game and my son and I loved to play it.
It's called Scrambled States of America.

And not strictly a card game, but what about cribbage? Another good one for sharpening some math skills.
This is funny. ^

My mom hated, hated, hated board games. She loved to play Yahtzee. She loved most card games, but hated cribbage because to her it was 'a board game'. Had to keep telling her that it is indeed a card game and not a board game - the cribbage board is only there for pegging points: the score can be kept on a piece of paper.

My brother and I play cribbage for at least two hours a day. We play 3 people with a neighbor and pairs whenever two people show up.
It's what we do.
