You know the games where it takes you at least an hour and a half just to set up before you actually start playing? I think Monopoly taught me to budget. And Mouse Trap led me to my IT career (putting things together)...ok, I'm being silly but, do any kids play these games nowadays? I wish I had taken better care of them. I could probably sell them on Ebay now for a grip.

We always play:
Monopoly
Trouble
Candyland
Connect 4
Mouse Trap
Also, alot of scrabble, helps kids with language and spelling!!!
plus card games: old maid, crazy 8's, go fish, war, rummy, etc....
I do my best to keep them away from video games (they do play some), what happened to the good ol' days of using your imagination and making up games with your friends?

Reason: Jeez, you think I could spell
Scrabble - we all love this one!
Monopoly - He's not old enough yet
Sorry - ALL DAY LONG!
Trouble - He adores this game
Life - We have the sponge bob edition
Clue - we have the Haunted Mansion edition
Candyland - we play more Chutes & Ladders
Jenga - not yet
Connect 4 - he loves this too!
Mouse Trap - I found this game difficult and hated it as a child - it has too many pieces, so I won't buy it
You missed all the card games - we have Uno - gosh he LOVES uno - and then a bunch of other board games...even Operation! Can't forget that one!
We love board/card games (and also don't have any video game systems). I still have board games from when my parents were little
Some of our favorites are:
Life
Scrabble
Clue
Trivial Pursuit (various editions)
Sorry!
Uno Attack (so much fun)
Uncle Wiggly
Monopoly
Chutes and Ladders
Parchesi
Yahtzee
Boggle
Trouble
Yes! The kids I work with love all of these....especially mousetrap (and I agree with previous posters, I HATED mouse trap as a child!)
