I was at dinner with a group of people. It was at someone's home and not in a restaurant. There was a married couple at the table who had 2 daughters. Also there were 2 of their aunts, with whom they are very close. The daughters were about 8 and 12. The 12 year old girl was sitting next to her aunt and, out of nowhere, squeezes one of her aunt's breasts. Everyone shrugged it off, though I could see a wince of embarrassment in the parents. Is this normal, or abnormal? I thought this was weird.

It's weird. Lol. But maybe it was a joke?

Probably just a kid behaving badly. I'd have smacked her hand if that had been me.

Little kids usually go through a fascination with breasts, and then it's no big deal. But by that age, she should have long since known that she doesn't touch anyone like that and no one should be touching her either. 12 is way, way too old for that kind of behavior. The aunt should have spoken up and let her know that was not appropriate, if not then and there then at least pulled her to the side and had a little private chat.

It's common for kids that age to make jokes in that fashion....big deal- There is nothing perverse or sexual about it- some nut bars her would drag the kid away and have them listed on the sex offenders registry,,,,,

.Give me a break.....It's a little girl poking at aunties breast...sound like the kid was being a mischief maker and trying to embarrass the woman...If the woman squirmed - the kid would have gotten a kick out of finding a weakness in the adult...To point this out as important is prudish. My adult son attempts to get my goat by slapping me on the ass as he goes by- it bugs me and he thinks it's funny because it bugs me...should I call the cops and put in a sexual assault complaint?

Wow... this is a stretch. Where did anyone suggest any of this be done? You sure saw a whole lot from basically nothing. Maybe your son bothers you more than you even realize? Why haven't you done anything about it to stop it?

The aunt ignored it altogether. The girl's parents very subtly winced. I think it was handled correctly.

Actually, I have a sister who is mentally handicapped due to a traumatic brain injury she suffered in a car accident and she does many things that are inappropriate , including touching & talking about
Body parts...
As many times as she is spoken to about it and her therapist talks to her about it, it doesn't matter. She is no longer capable of understanding what is appropriate and what is not. Fortunately, it doesn't happen frequently and when it does, she is mainly around our close family , who all understand.
So, there are times when this type of behavior does have an "excuse".

As for the OP, I think it was probably just a child being silly....
