(CBS News) Yesterday we showed you an amazing video of an innovative father who upgraded a drivable toy car into so much more. Well, it seems we haven't seen the last of creative dads doing amazing things for their children. Check out this father who built a backyard roller coaster for his daughter in the video above. Yeah, you read that right: a backyard roller coaster. The ride kicks in at about 30 seconds into the clip.
How awesome! I think he is going to have to make improvements as she gets older and wants more thrills. I can't imagine what the insurance company demanded for coverage rates once that went up in the yard though
I shuttered at the callous disregard for the child's safety. Nothing to hold onto, no helmet, etc. Wonder if he even thought about that?
That's what I was thinking. A fall from the top of that hill could be enough to put that little girl on the short bus. At least she's strapped in so the car has to come off the track for her to fall.
It is cool though. Just needs some safety devices. A lap bar to hang onto and a helmet should do it.
Not to mention what are this guys qualifications? Is he an engineer with the skill to understand what he is building exactly? Or just a moron who saw a plan online and said 'wow fantastic!'.

I don't think it would take an engineer to build that little PVC rollercoaster. Just common sense and able to read measurements.
Pretty sure any carpenter can easily put that up in no time.

It's a very simple design that any good carpenter/builder/backyard hobbyist could put together. In Calif he would need cross-bracing for the higher poles (earthquake building code) but the wheel design on the cart is brilliant.
I love it.
