My spouse is a big Amazon shopper so many of the gifts stay in the boxes til the night before. We've carefully stashed some big gifts in our furnace room under a big blanket and have been lucky. Our hidey place is in a dark corner without much light so that helps. Today snooping was on my mind so I took my son with me today on some errands so there wouldn't be the temptation. Both our kids still believe so we've been pretty careful to keep the surprise.
My daughter though did some unfortunate snooping over the summer and discovered plastic easter eggs. We may have defused the situation but I'm not entirely sure. Our gig may be up on that one, lol.

You mean you didn't buy them for CRAFTS!? I felt awful lying to my kids about things, but yes....I admit, I DID....I DID! LOL
Alright, so my 9 year old is always snooping. She has since she was about 3 years old. I never say anything about it though. She is also capable of telling us. I, as a mom, would talk to her. But, as a friend, I would let it go. Honey, all I think you need to do is talk about it, or as said in the comments, hide it better. I also don't mean to sound rude. Hope I helped!
Mine are teens now. We put the gifts in the same place every year and the kids know where they are (in our walk in closet). I'm pretty sure they haven't snooped, but if they have, then they miss the element of being surprised. I guess that's a good life lesson.
I know adults that still do that. You just need to find another place to hide them. Maybe a relatives house until you give them out. Life is to short to get upset over something so silly.
Our kids don't snoop, and even if they did it would be fruitless because I do all my shopping on Amazon and leave the boxes intact until the minute I start wrapping - and I normally don't wrap until the day before Christmas. And we keep busy on Christmas Eve day, so no time to snoop once everything is under the tree! =)
When they were much younger, we stashed everything on the top shelf in our closet, and put clothes on top. Even now we still occasionally put things in that area because the kids never go in our closet now that they know we leave everything in unopened Amazon boxes.
