The number of gifts have NOTHING to do with what makes a kid spoiled or not. Spoiled isn't about what you get, its about whether or not you GIVE.
Some years mine have gotten a dozen gifts, other years just one but EVERY year we make a point of doing something for someone else. When my kids were little they did toys or tots, as they got older community service stuff became the norm so they had to do something outside their comfort zone for xmas. Example, my daughter is a big environmentalist, and did something related to that most weekends. So the year it was her turn to pick she picked making christmas dinner at the center (a local aids charity). Now that they are all off at college this has become a chance for us to do stuff together, this year we helped make christmas dinner, serve and clean up for some displaced families from Sandy.
Its hard to be spoiled when you are helping other people.
What happens one day out of the year doesn't determine much of anything IMO. It's what happens the other 364 days of the year along with that day... That's what is important
I agree. No chilldren have become spoiled simply because mom and dad gave them a lot of presents for Christmas.

And, not every kid who is spoiled is a "spoiled brat." My sisters and I were spoiled growing up; however, we were not spoiled brats. We didn't throw fits if we didn't get something. We didn't beg for things. Christmas was not all about the presents for us. Etc.
