My 2 oldest are less than 2 years apart. They fought like cats and dogs...it was horrible. They couldn't stand being in the same room with each other. I know you're looking for reassurance and ideas that it will get better...and it did for me...when the oldest left home .

There are many good ideas here. Re-direction right after school seems like it would help with your boys. I have not read any of the book recommended, but I'm sure they would give you some good ideas.

Ironically I did spank and my kids did not hit each other. I've told them they can wrestle but -- no hitting, smacking, pinching - no hurting the other but they don't even like to wrestle.

That's about when it stopped for my daughters too! I have to say, it was nice not to have all that going on when the oldest went off to college. They're 29 and 25 (almost 26) now, and still fight, but I don't think they hit each other any more.

I agree with re-directing et al, but there will still be times when they fight. At that point, I do agree with the "discipline both" approach.

I feel like boys hit more than girls though, my sister and I were more verbal, but my husband and his brother used to beat the crap out of each other! Sometimes for fun as jokes! lol.
