Hi, everyone. I'm not a parent, but I'm writing a script that features a 10-year-old boy whose mom is throwing him a birthday party. She wants to go overboard and get a lot of "cool" stuff to impress his friends and make this a legendary birthday party. What kind of things would make a 10-year-old boy's birthday party great these days? What are most boys that age into?

Thanks for any pointers!

Lego, Star Wars Lego, Bakugan, Spider-Man, Justice League for starters. My nephew only ever wants Lego kits and games for his PSP.

Xbox.

Around here, the thing to do at that age is hire this mobile video game bus that comes to your house and the entire party can play game at the same time.

Video games. I think legos are before age 10 but by age 10, many kids want nothing to do but play video games. They socialize around video games.

More active kids like paintball. A paintball party is usually a hit.

The video game trucks are very popular around here. Also laser tag.

Tell me more about video game trucks, please. Never heard of this (live in the boonies) -- my kids are Minecraft and Xbox addicts. (Ages 8 and 11, OP, and yes, video games are the only cool thing anyone this age appears to care about).

As been said here already...our 8 yr old is all about legos and more legos....star wars, ninjago, anything like that. Video games are tough to get as a gift, unless you know what exactly they have and want....

Google "video game buses" and a lot of choices pop up. Here's one: The Ultimate Video Game Party | GameTruckParty.

My kids always requested active parties, either at the ice rink, laser tag, swim parties at the Y, etc. Anything was fine by me, except trying to entertain a dozen boys at home!
