Okay, so my seven year old cousin wants Uggs, but her parents are refusing to buy them for her birthday. I don't want to conflict with their parental vision, but I do have enough money to be able to afford them for her. What would the parents here suggest that I do?

Ask the parents if it's OK for you to buy them for her. If they say No don't buy them.

stay out of this. They are expensive and her feet are growing at such a rate she won't be able to wear them but one season. Then she will insist on them every year. A 7 year old so brand conscious is a sad thing indeed. You could buy her some nice boots but I'm sure her parents could too. You don't want to become the sugar daddy to a 7 year old in terms of her going to you for extras she wants. Stay out of this.

Personally, I wouldn't spend a chunk of change for trendy shoes for a young child who's feet are growing. She could outgrow them after only wearing them a handful of times. Her parents are right IMO. If she likes the look, I don't see anything wrong with an inexpensive pair of similar style boots.

Well, she also asked for either a Coach and/or Michael Kors Bag. I have confirmed that one of my other relatives has already bought her the MK bag (got a full sized one with coupons at Marshall's for only $100+tax). I walked into the Coach store at the Fort Lauderdale Galleria and a full sized bag was $899.99! I am wondering where she got the ideas for these gifts.....

Talk about expensive tastes for a 7 year old, my goodness! I always run gift ideas by the parents - whether that's my own parents for a gift for my younger siblings or by my aunts/uncles if for my cousins. They used to do the same thing about my gifts as a kid and ran them by my mom and dad. I'd say your aunt/uncle are probably going to say no as far as you getting her Uggs because they didn't want to buy them. She probably would only fit into them for a few months, feet grow so much faster than you would think!

Give her a gift card to a store that sells the Uggs, if you want. Her mom will either let her get them or will spend the gift card on things your niece really needs.

I think it's a little weird that a 7 year old is so into specific brands. Does she get it from her mom?

Ask the parents if you can rather buy some Ugg clones. Perfectly fine for a 7 year-old.

Don't buy them unless you fget the a size or two too big and she doesn't mind stuffing them with socks. Otherwise she'll grow out of them in like 6 months.
