I'm a tomboy. I've played with my brother's toys MORE than my own toys. I loved his action figures, legos, etc. more than my Barbies.
However, there was one thing I loved more than my brother's toys... and that was my Easy Bake Oven. It was insanely difficult to get my mother to buy more recipes for my Easy Bake Oven, but getting more Legos pieces, more puzzles, more "dinosaur skeletons", more science and creepy-crawly kids labs, etc. was a lot more easier.
As a result I grew up semi-outdoorsy. I liked hunting although I only did it once, I liked hiking, I liked climbing trees, I like roller blading, I liked videogames, I didn't like skirts and dresses that much, and above all, I loved wrestling with my brother.
Funnily enough when I got to my 20's a switch turned on. Suddenly I like dresses, skirts, baking, trying new recipes, to get myself pampered, wear stylish clothes, wear stylish hair, being more health-conscious, frills, laces, glitter, sparkles, cutesy stuff, etc.
I swore when I was younger than I would never be a girly girl. Guess what? I turned into one. But guess what else? I still love all the boy stuff like wrestling, soccer, hiking, climbing, etc. even though I do it less frequent
So to answer your question: Yes, girls can play with Legos.
