I'm an adult now, but when I was a kid, if no company we ate at the kitchen table, tv only on if a big news story. No books or newspapers. If we had company the dining room table (no tv, books or newspapers), this was way before tablets, computers.

Usually Saturday nights were casual dinner, we'd order a pizza or fend for ourselves and eat off of tv trays in the living room watching tv. As a kid, I thought eating off of TV trays was as good as it got

Just went to my parents for dinner 2 nights ago, dining room table, no tv, or anything, just talking, (it was nice).

Single, so I eat in front of my computer with the tv on (if alone), but like the idea of family dinners.

Dining table with no tv, no tablets and no phones. We use this time to reflect on all our days, chat, laugh, and enjoy our company. Our boys are 13 and 15.

We eat at the dining room table. Sometimes with TV in the living room on (visible but a good ways away), sometimes without. We have a little one who we don't trust to sit at the counter height bar stools at the kitchen island, otherwise we would probably eat breakfast and/or lunch there and reserve the dining room for dinner only.
