Hopes obviously you've never driven the interstate around Atlanta. I said my daughter lives in Atlanta (we don't) and it is not safe to leave your car on the side of the highway and walk. i said nothing about walking in the city itself. There are many safe walkable areas of Atlanta.

and you think it is double standard to think a 95 lb 4'10" woman is not physically the same as a 165 lb 6'1" man? If you do then there is nothing I can say to you. THIS HAS NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH DOUBLE STANDARD.
Hopes--do you have a daughter?

I do...and I agree with Hope. Honestly, you teach any child to be aware of their surroundings and how to spot an unsafe area. This isn't something that only girls need. There is no need for a double standard.

I find the double standards to be a bunch of crap!! I have a son whom is 15 I am encouraging him to think about his education not to be chasing after these girls. He has expressed his desires for his adult life, I feel that he knows what he wants to do with his life, so I try to encourage him to stay focused. I know how it was growing up for me, I was always made to clean up after I came home from school, I didn't get to go off and do teenager activities, I had no free will when it came to decision making on minor subjects. I made up my mind that I didn't want to have children as an adult but never say never lol. I believe both boys and girls should have equal treatment, there is nothing wrong with a boy cleaning up the kitchen etc. How else will he learn to take care of his own home when he goes out on his own? I don't allow my son to be out past dark even during the weekends and summer break. If he wants to go with a friend I want to know exactly where he will be, If by any chance he is going somewhere else he is to come home and tell me. He may think I am being to hard or strict, but I am the one who is responsible for him, no one else.
