We do day camps especially through the local (city) park & recreation.
Our school district also has a "summer enrichment" program (summer school to prepare for the next grade) and the local community college offers a similar enrichment offering that's targeted to a subject.
We did the summer school "1st grade prep" program, my kid liked it and some of his classmates from kindergarten attended it, so he knew some people. This was about $400 for 4 weeks. The community college programs were a bit pricier.
There is no shortage of camps in our area but these are extremely expensive and out of our budget.
I didn't look into daycare mostly because at kid's age I wanted more structured activities.
