I'm not even going to bother with the link you've probably all clicked and read about it on facebook.
The two amish girls who's parents & police they fear have been abducted.

The police had to get the parents to cooperate, not because they're guilty but because they A) don't have pictures and 2) They were hesitant on giving a description for a sketch because of their religious beliefs and how they don't believe in photography and would only give one description for the older daughter.

THEIR KIDS WERE ABDUCTED!
REALLY? They're going to let their religious beliefs stand in the way of their little girls safety.
I mean I know they don't have tv's or watch the news but they can't be totally blind to what the eff happens to abducted children....

MIND=BLOWN.
Like no seriously? REALLY?

I just wanna be like please don't have that much faith that you let any amount of time go by before the police know what they are looking for.

Plus if you live on american soil you go by american laws which require full cooperation with the police when they say so or face jail time.

Which law is it that says full cooperation with police or jail time?

You're getting off topic.
How could any parent let anything stand in the way of the safety of their children?

Not to derail your thread, but where would I find this on Facebook? Do you get news on FB?

I'm a 40 year old mom and I actually do get a lot of news on FB. I haven't actually read this story though.

I'll withhold comment until I read the story.

I believe that parents have the right to their religious beliefs.

It may seem extremely odd to others but if they felt that it was against their religion to make a sketch of the younger daughter then it was their religious right.

America does not force many things on people when it is against their religion.

Frankly, I am very happy that I live in a country where everyone can practice their religion or no religion at all.

PS. I just read that the girls were found and are safe and well. That is wonderful.

I'm glad they are okay. It's really weird that someone picked them up and dropped them off so many miles from home. I hope they find who did it.

It seems they may have escaped.

This is in the comments section and it's different from what's reported in the story linked.

Quote:
According to the WWNY station, they were taken to some house, told not to leave, but they disobeyed (hooray), ran off and found help. I'm delighted for them and their family.
The article say they were "dropped off."

Journalism today is terrible. I wonder which is true.
