I would have taken that guy aside and socked him, out of my daughter's view of course.

"Does your wife know you can get out of the straightjacket by yourself?' is one of the first replies that comes to mind.

I would have loved to see that innocnt child respond with a half hour conversation with that old far+, you know the way kids are, they don't know when to let up.......

I don't understand, mama, what does he mean?

Why don't you ask him that, sweetie?

Mister, why are you asking if this is for me?

Because little girls aren't supposed to......etc.

Mister, who told you that?

Why, everybody knows that.

I don't know. Did you know that, mommy?

No, honey, I have never heard of that either. Who told you that, sir, please tell us? Your daughter? Granddaughter? Niece?

Um, erg, snort,.........

Yeah, he really started when she grabbed the plane excitedly from the register after I had paid. I think some people have a "rant" they pull out in certain situations. That's almost what it felt like, because it came out of nowhere.

Of course, the easiest one would have been, 'Wow, you really are old, aren't you? Ever heard of Margaret Thatcher?'

It was Houston, right? OP might have said, "Ever heard of Gov. Ann Richards? She said it was OK for Texas girls to do anything boys do."

I can understand the OP's reasoning, but I believe it to be a bit over-simplified and over-sensitized. Millions of people are raised outside the Gospel of Political Correctness, and most of them do learn to avoid offending without subscribing wholesale to what can be perceived as a very doctrinal and self-righteous agenda that labels everyone who doesn't completely subscribe to it as a misogynist.

Or, Mayor Annise Parker might tell you girls can do whatever they wish to do...

I have noted your response. I hope no one else responds. This was an issue for me that was painful to go through. Maybe the word misogyny doesn't apply, but whatever word you use his behavior was repugnant and inappropriate.

Nice try but it isn't SELF-righteous of the PC set, when this STRANGER intruded upon them with his "agenda".
