I got through page one and now I'm going to tell you what I think.

I raised two boys by myself. They were 7-1/2 yrs apart and by two different dads. Both deadbeats, yes a reflection on my judgement but who thinks at the time they're getting involved with losers?

I was very careful not to say anything negative about anyone but what I said A LOT was: Your dad loves you but he has some problems that he has to deal with. It has nothing to do with you. I'm sorry he isn't the best dad right now. It's not your fault. He does love you.

Now my oldest has heard his dad's side of the story which makes me out to be the bad guy! Dang! The stuff he says isn't true and my son chooses to believe him. Oh well. I can only control me and I feel like I took the high road. I just want to let you know that it MIGHT be a good idea to introduce the idea that there are problems that need dealing with in his dad's life and it's not anything your son did. Sometimes they think it's their fault their dad doesn't come around or whatever the problem is.

One day they will know the truth. Best wishes.

Thank you Emm74. He'll ask when he's ready. I should be patient and non judgemental.
