She is old enough to zip her coat and learn the consequences. If she comes home shivering, suggest zipping up her coat would keep her warmer. She will eventually learn.
For Winter she is getting a 3 in 1 but how many should I ask her to zip, one or all three? School have said that all three will in order to keep her warm, she listens to school teacher though, if he asks her to zip her coat, she puts up no fuss and obeys so how can't she do it for me :-(, even her dad gets obeyed, he has same opinion as me and also backs School and has told her that three zips will get zipped.
Tell her she can zip her coat or not, that's up to her but you will not listen to her whine. I'm not saying she'll stop permanently the first time you say it but eventually she will and she'll either zip or stop complaining. Either way, you win!
I will probably keep zipping for her until she is about 10.
On numerous occasions I have said to her "until your coat is zipped, we stay here, and if that means missing your favourite cartoons then so be it!", that usually does trick but she sulks the whole way to School or house.
As I have asked, how come she will zip no problem for daddy and teachers but not me, they nag her more than I do?
She whines though so to stop the whinging, I zip the coat. I know that is wrong but it is easier than listening to her complaints.
You are the one who needs re-training, not your daughter.
She has trained you to jump when she wants you to.
STOP zipping it for her. If you keep zipping her coat until she is 10 , guess what else you will be doing?
ANYTHING she wants.
Please do not raise a child like that. Next time she whines, tell her, "NO WHINING. Be cold or zip your coat, but don't whine like a baby."
