I would have a stern talking to with him about how wasteful it is to buy porn when so much is free on the internet.

Would the parents with liberal views toward the seemingly heterosexual son behave in the same way?
Its normal to want to know how it feels to be drunk. Its normal to try smoking. But its not acceptable for a minor to consume alcohol, smoke cigarettes or have pornography in my home.

Don
I don't think that's true.

I'm sure the majority do but not every single last one of them.

If you confiscate them, he will likely just buy more and hide them better.

Because I don't think a 14 year old should be watching or looking at sexually explicit content.

I would hope a 14 year old would not be having sexual experiences either. That is way too young for that sort of thing.

Its just a nudie magazine.....big whoop.

Boys wanting to see whatever gender they are attracted to naked, it's natural for them to want to know what they look like, it's normal and natural. It shouldn't be punished.
I think pornography is bad. Its exploitative. I will not condone the use of it.

YMMV

Perhaps. But I could say the same thing about every other parenting decision I make too. I'm not going to not parent on the basis that my children may not listen and try something again.

I'd tell him to fix his time machine. What is this, 1999?

1, if they don't see it at home, they'll see it at a friend's place. Would you rather they just see the cartoon characters and artistic photos they use in sex-ed at school?

2, I would hope not either, but that seems to be a norm with young teenagers, along with sexting (texting nude or sexually explicit photos of themselves/partner to others) which I think is so scary in this day and age. They are so ignorant of the fact that photos being passed around from phone to phone in the blink of an eye can follow them forever, seriously damaging a person's reputation, relationships, and future careers for life.

The more you sexually repress your offspring, the more they will rebel and the more likely they are to engage in disastrous sexual relations with unwanted pregnancies, STDs, etc.

Trust me, I used to think like you. You're only fighting nature. You can't fight nature. Work with Mother Nature. Sit down with your kid and discuss the consequences of sex. Discuss the consequences of watching porn (there is only one potential consequence - not having a healthy sexual relationship later in life). Above all, don't punish or make demands or ultimatums. You might as well punish your kid for eating or pooping in that case.
