I'm not asking the question to promote a debate about its decriminalization or its legal use but AM curious to know if you're a parent who regularly smokes marijuana and whether or not you do so in front of your children. I've smoked casually on and off for many years but it's only very recently that this has been happening around me and, frankly, it bothers me. Certainly not enough to kick up a stink about it or do anything about it but, as easy going and liberal as I am with a decided "live and let live" outlook on life, it just rubs me the wrong way.
Curious to know what others think and hear opinions.
I no longer use cannabis... But I find nothing wrong with responsible parents being slightly buzzed in front of your children. Basic caution should be used (eye drops, not smoking it in front of them, discrete and small amounts).
A quick walk back to the shed for 1 or 2 very discrete puffs = OK, taking giant bong rips off your living room coffee table while watching family guy = not OK. Of course many cannabis users give the responsible ones a bad name. I DO NOT think it's ok to use in an enclosed space shared with children as the second hand smoke could get them a contact high. I am referring to outside, discrete use that the child is not privy too.
Prepare for this thread to be highly flamed. I do feel there is a double standard between drinking and cannabis use though, when if anything it should be the other way around...
Why wouldn't it be? Now that I live in a state where it is legal, I have mixed thoughts on this. I don't smoke it, but what if I did? I drink in front of my kids. Is this really different, or is it just taboo because in "my day" it was an illegal drug?
I live in a state where it's not legal, so if I did smoke marijuana (I don't) I wouldn't in front of my kids since I'm not sure I'd like to send the message of disregarding laws. If I lived somewhere where it's legal, maybe. I don't get drunk in front of my kids (or ever, really ), but I do drink wine with dinner sometimes, or drink a beer at a cookout or baseball game. I'm not sure I see marijuana as all that different, except for it has a stigma.
No, although I don't smoke marijuana, nor do I have children.
