In a Minnesota town, a little girl was turning 10, so mom wanted to throw her a party. She invited classmates, but no one wanted to come. She was born with a genetic condition called Sotos Syndrome.
Her mom posted on Facebook, and 300 people showed up for her party today!!
Good job, mom!! And good job, people of Minnesota. I do hope the parents of the classmates she invited talk with their children about how to be kind to everyone, even those who are different.

When my daughter was in elementary she was invited to a few parties of classmates that were not neuro typical....
most times she loved going but a few times...she admitted that she didn't think it was going to be that fun or even that comfortable. But she always went because she'd feel bad if no one showed. There was never a party where she was the only guest...but a few where there were only two that showed. Funny...she normally ended up having fun anyway...lol.
Kudos to the Birthday Girl's Mom and the people that came to the party. And, shame on the other classmates parents who did not explain the situation to their kids and insist they go to their classmate's party. Ten is old enough to be able to understand and have empathy enough to go even if they didn't "feel like it."
Wow, this is a great story. Wonder how those kids and their parents feel knowing they didn't go to the party? Wonder if mom is keeping them in her circle, or if she has a new, improved circle?
