I have a friend named "M" who receives child support from his ex girlfriend. She is a drug addict and he was granted custody by the courts because of her situation. She rarely ever actually makes the payments though..
One of the RN's at work does. She makes a lot more than her ex husband does. Also at first she wanted to have her freedom and play around, hit the clubs, ect. One of the reasons she got divorced in the first place.
I would say that the majority of people that pay are men, but depending on who makes more money and how much time the kids are with them would depend on how much they pay.
In California they use a program that figures it all out. Information on time spent, how much both parents make, tax situation, which of the parents will claim the kids on the taxes, ect, ect. Once all the information is entered the program will let you know how much each parent will pay. (Or not pay.). If both parents make $50,000 and the kids are going to be with both parents 50% of the time and one parent is claiming all the kids on the taxes then the other parents gets child support. When the numbers are the same to make it fair, the courts give the other parent child support.
Being that most of those paying child support are men I am curious if anyone knows women that are the ones doing so, and if so, do you know why and about how much?

Has 3 kids, has them every other weekend, and all summer only. nothing during the school year week, the dad has them.

I don't know exact dollar amounts....but i know two women that pay or have paid. It's not uncommon.
One is a very friendly situation...the kids stay with Dad due to school district and him having a more flexible schedule for activities.
The other....well... Dad only wanted custody so he wouldn't pay child support....he didn't understand he was then really expected to be the primary parent...and you know....feed them. (Yes, he thought that they woukd still eat all meals at Mom's and she'd buy the clothes, pay the fees...even though he got the child support.) Well....that didn't last long as Mom thought so she didnt fight much and akways paid) has custody again...and Dad sometimes pays.
Yes. He shelved law school in order to put her through optometry school. Then she wanted a kid and convinced him to, once again, stay home while she opened her optometry practice. So he stayed home with the kid. She wound up banging another optometrist and filed for divorce. She was shocked when the family court came down on his side.
My female friend pays child support to her ex and they have 50/50 custody.
