We have three kids and did not undergo genetic testing prior to having our children. However, when I was pregnant with #3 I was 37, so we did meet with a genetic counselor, who told us that based on our family history, etc., we would not need further genetic testing.

If we were in a high risk group for certain diseases and the testing was as simple as a blood test, then I would absolutely want to know.

Perhaps, but as a parent, I would want to educate myself ahead of time on what I would be facing with my child. Having a heads up on any medical challenges that may lay ahead is worth it to me.
