PS ~~ You should also teach them the word no and how to properly report the boys for harassment.
As I said, my daughter does not have a cell phone. She does have a tablet that is required and issued by her school and is monitored and filtered so I can see everything she does. That still doesn't stop people from asking her, and a lot of other girls, for pictures.

I'm pretty sure it's not the dads egging on the boys. Peer pressure, things they see online, the way their older siblings behave, etc. But most dads would probably be horrified at the idea of their son having child porn (which is what nude photos of middle schoolers would be) on their phones or tablets.

Your daughter has to learn to stand up to peer pressure and to say no to things she doesn't want to do. Middle school kids are old enough to learn to do that. My daughter had problems with harassment in elementary, not just verbal but physical also, and she was too young to understand what was going on or why it was happening to her or even how to fight back against it. Our only option was reporting it to the school, which wasn't able to deal with it effectively enough, so I ended up taking her out of the school. She's a lot more capable of dealing with problems like that at 14 than she was when she was 9 and I'm positive that if she went back to a regular school she would not have any problem getting the boys to keep their hands to themselves.

But who the hell is raising these boys, and there are a lot of them? Don't dads realize that every time they give their boys a sly "atta boy" they are teaching them that girls are less than? That they are teaching them it's OK to treat girls as nothing more than a blow up doll?

It just makes me so angry that my little girl (because they really are still just little kids), already has to deal with harassment from boys, when all she's doing is trying to get an education. I wish I could tell her it gets better, but the sad truth is that some day she is going to have to work with these same boys who will still treat her as less than. That she will receive more unsolicited d*** pics than she could imagine. That she will never be able to fully enjoy the college experience because being assaulted is always in the back of her mind.

Why do men think this is OK?

Generalities are seldom true, which you already know because you asked why boys "suck" sometimes. That means you know they don't always "suck" and that, sometimes, girls "suck," too. Teach your kids to deal with these things they may encounter, and hope the girls aren't always denigrating boys along the way.

BTW, I think it's interesting how it's acceptable to generalize when it comes to boys. I saw a teen girl wearing a t-shirt which read, Boys are smelly. Not that you'd find one, but imagine if a boy were wearing a shirt that proclaimed the same thing about girls.

This war of the sexes is getting silly.

If a student (boy or girl) is using a school-issued tablet to request naked pictures of other students, it should be reported to the teacher and/or principal. Honestly, even if it wasn't school issued I might report it. Kids are hearing and seeing this sort of stuff all over the place and need to hear that it's not OK.

The Unabomber was right....Technology will lead to death of society. Right message...wrong delivery.

And if you are thinking that it's just the technology of cell phones...think again. It started with what they saw on TV, and moved to the internet. When I was a kid, it was very difficult to get your hands on anything pornographic. Today, it's freely abundant on the internet. Anal sex was once considered taboo. Thanks to the internet....it is considered the norm.

An on-line sex sites...Tinder, PlentyOfFish, and the likes...these poor girls think that they have to put themselves like that, just to get a guys interest. Most girls are hoping to find a mate that way, while the majority of guys are looking at it like it's open hunting season, with no plans for any relationship. I guess I'm old but I still think sexual intimacy, while having deep feelings for the other person, is still the best kind.

Kids today are forced to grow up way too soon...and in a way that is not healthy.

Thanks internet!

But a huge LOL that most girls are looking to find mates that way, women are as much if not more into hooking up as dudes are. I've found that to definitely be the case in modern dating, and from watching the women I know in action.

Yeah, I wondered the same. Kind of a sexist thing to say, IMO.

The ignorance in this thread is astounding, and the sexism is borderline offensive.

Not necessarily on this issue, but I have seen plenty of guys (presumably Dads) at soccer games, birthday parties, movies, grocery stores, wherever who point out when girls/women are "hot" and things like that. Even if they think it is innocent bonding or whatever, it's really just teaching boys that it's perfectly acceptable to objectify women/girls.
