Congrats on the upcoming arrival!!!

My dil is due in November. Her 2nd. She will birth natural . Her wellness center has her booked day of. They will induce if it doesn't arrive as dated. Seems even natural child birth gets scheduled between checking the email and looking for new movie releases.

I birthed quick! Maximum 2 hours of hard labor and pop!
1st son was a week late. 2nd son was a premie 6 weeks early. Had a trauma... And went into early labor.

My doctor defined "on time" as being born in the week they were due. Technically, mine we're all on time although they didn't all necessarily show up on the due date.

#1 born three days after due date
#2 born two days after due date
#3 born on due date, but my water broke that day and I didn't go into labor so labor started with Pictocin.

My kids loved being inside:-)

First baby 13 days over due
Second baby 3 days over due
Third baby 15 days over due

Labors were shorter with each
Baby# 1- 3 days labor
Baby # 2- 28 hours labor
Baby #3- 9 hours labor

I don't think you can predict when. They come when they are ready, not when we are ready.

1st child was 5 days late, so basically on time.

2nd child was 15 days late and that was torture, upon torture. They won't let you go longer then that without inducing.

One thing that does seem to hold true is the length of labor. If she had a long labor with baby number one, then she would have a long labor again. It would be shorter with each subsequent baby but it takes time from the onset of early labor so you should have time to hop on a plane. Be ready. There is no other way to know for sure.

To the OP, our first Grandson was born 2 days early. We drove up from Florida to NY the week before so we there there in time for his delivery.

Second Grandson was 3 weeks early, and 9.3 lbs. Early? We all thought his due date was "off". As soon as our daughter called to say she was in labor. we drove up but did not make it for delivery. We got there for his coming home.

My own daughters were born on their delivery date (first) and the day after (second). I suppose you can never really know even in the same family.

Went into labor on my due date with my first and 3 days before my due date with my second. Labor was 27 hours with first and 22 with second.

Good luck Grandma!
