Another problem with being born in or after the 1990s.

Woman sues parents for sharing embarrassing childhood photos - The Local

Quote:
"They knew no shame and no limit - and didn’t care whether it was a picture of me sitting on the toilet or lying naked in my cot - every stage was photographed and then made public,” the 18-year-old said. The photos were shared on Facebook with her parents' 700 friends.
No matter when we were born, by the age of 16 most of us learned all the many different ways that our parents could embarrass us in front of our friends.

But this might be the very first generation with possible grounds to sue for it!

Absolutely ridiculous!! She sounds like a spoiled brat. Unless it's a pornographic picture I don't see what the big deal is. Get over it.

Damn those Millennials! Get off my lawn (in old guy voice).

Did you know, there are very little agreement on what a Millennial is? It ranges widely. In several sources I just looked at it said born 82-02, some say its reaching young adulthood at around 2000.

No one seems to really know who they are complaining about.

Reading the article, I am with the daughter. Her parents were doing it to tease and torment their daughter against her wishes. It was done to hurt and harm her. No one should be bullied by their parent. They had no right to torment her like that.

I hope she wins!

Me too. The parents should also be sued by everybody who has to see their obnoxious posts. It's one thing to post pictures in real time, I realize young parents can't quite help themselves, but to dredge up stuff from the past? Mom and Dad need to get a life.

At first before reading the article, i was on board with those who called the teenage girl a spoiled brat, she needs to get over it, etc. But, upon seeing a picture of her potty training...i feel like that is questionable, just like parents who post pictures of their kids at bath time and not enough bubbles cover them up........i mean, it is just a picture, but a personal one at that.

I would like to know what reason, if any, are the parents doing this besides 'refusing to see their daughter as being a grown up'...i mean really, what do parents who do this get out of it? I want to say they are trying to teach her a lesson, via. extreme embarrassment, about privacy and internet and what not things that relate to this day and age of technology...but i think the parents need to stop vivaciously living through their daughter in their own perverse twisted way.

Maybe for "revenge" the girl is 18 she could do porn pictures or be a stripper or whatever and at least get something out of her pictures being put all over the internet, and use the money to live her own life without her parents.

My mom used to lure my sister away and then show her boyfriend's naked baby pictures of her. All the better if my mom could lock the door and hear my sister frantic on the other side. She thought it was soooooooo funny.

I learned to appear totally unfazed when she tried it with me, so she didn't try it more then twice. It just wasnt as fun if her "mark" didn't respond. Typical bully.

So I totally get where this is coming from on the daughter's side. My son is 11 and he has been very specific with me about deleting old photos he now finds embarrassing (like him as a toddler in a diaper and t-shirt, I would never take let alone post a nude pic of my kid!) and has to have the final OK if I post any new pictures. I wish he wasnt so picky, but I honor his requests because...well I don't want him to feel embarrassed or ashamed and that is what good parents do.

The parents in the article need to learn a lesson...and it sounds like they need something major to get through to them.

The young woman, according to the article, asked her parents numerous time to stop doing exactly what she is suing them over. Short of using physical violence, what other option did she have?

Rich

Yeah...it wasnt like they were just posting her grad pics. They were posting nude photos of her...god only knows what age that cut off. And she asked them to stop...

It sounds like they are very mean people.

I think the worst part is that she asked them to remove the photos and they refused.
